Many of our customers at 718 are looking for one bike that does alot of things. Since most are urban dwellers, they don’t have the space or garage for a fleet of bikes. Customer requests for that perfect bike include but are not limited to:

  • Commuting to work

  • Bike Camping/Packing/Touring

  • Fitness laps in the park

  • Grocery Shopping

  • “Just getting around Brooklyn”

In discontinuing the Crosscheck as a complete bike (frame only for now on), Surly has re-positioned the Bridge Club to be one versatile bike. It comes in a 700c and 27.5 build kit, both at a great price of $1100.

I have been riding a stock Bridge Club 700c in medium for about a week. My first impressions are that its lighter than I thought it would be (ours measures in right at 29 lbs), and I like the swept back bars more than I thought I would. I am very intrigued in the versatility of the braze-ons presented on the frame. I also haven’t really scratched the surface of the gear range on the bigger cogs.

The features that jump out for me are the hydraulic brakes, huge tire clearance, versatile braze-ons and a very wide 1x10 drivetrain.

There is quite a hill on Mirco-Tour 7, so that will be a great test.

We are 718 are looking to put the Bridge Club (or, as Chombo calls it, “The Beach House”) through its paces, knowing that we can confidentially stand behind this bike as the one that does it all…look for it on our next few Micro-Tours

Bridge Club is for those multi-surface outings — planned or unplanned. We've all run out the clock on a dirt tour and had to add in some paved shortcuts. Conversely, when you’re feeling a little zesty on your next road tour, Bridge Club is ready for reroutes through the woods.

Some people hear "bike touring" and immediately think of long-forgotten stretches of highway, small-town oddities, and roadside attractions. Some instantly recall desolate stretches of desert dirt roads or lush green forest trails. With Bridge Club, you can have your dessert and eat it too!

  • Ultra-focused on simplicity, it only has the barnacles that matter most to the discerning bike tourist

  • Two build kit options: Pavement (700c) and Off-Road (27.5)

  • Run racks and panniers, framebags, or all of the above

  • Disc brake-specific, single position vertical rear dropout makes it less intimidating than other bikes in the category

  • Clearance for 700 x 47mm tires (with or without fenders), 27.5 x 2.8” tires (27.5 x 2.6” with fenders), and 26 x 3” tires (26 x 2.8” with fenders)
