Fought in late August 1776, the Battle of Brooklyn (also known as the Battle of Long Island) was the largest, bloodiest and most pivotal engagement of the Revolutionary War. Pitting 32,000 well seasoned British soldiers and hundreds of Royal Navy ships against a ragtag Continental Army of around 8,000, the stories of heroism and gallantry still can make one’s hair stand on end.
The moments that happened in Brooklyn surely saved the Continental Army to fight another day, and without a doubt saved a nation.
Itinerary
This will be a 9.5 mile casually-paced ride, taking roughly 3 hours. We might stop for an opportune snack, but please bring the nutrition and water you need for a 3 hour excursion. We will return to 718 Cyclery at the conclusion of the trip. There will be stops for water and bathroom.
